How does signature pricing work?

Every plan (Free included) ships 10 e-signatures per month. Above that allowance you pay $0.22 per additional signature — same flat rate on every plan, no PAdES surcharge, no per-signer fee, no platform fee on top. Signatures are metered in real time via Stripe; you can see your current month's usage on the Billing page in your dashboard. There's no hard cap on signatures the way renders have caps — you'll always be billed for usage above the included allowance.

What counts as one signature?

One signature = one POST /v1/signatures call that successfully captures a signed PDF. Sending a request that the signer declines, delegates, or never opens does NOT count toward the meter — you're billed only when ink lands on the document. A multi-signer envelope counts as one signature per recipient who signs (so a 3-recipient envelope where everyone signs is 3). Verification calls on /verify are always free, forever, regardless of plan.

What's the public verify page, and why does it matter?

Every Kamy-signed PDF gets a public URL like kamy.dev/verify/{sha256} where any recipient — your customer, their lawyer, an auditor — can drag-drop the signed PDF and see the cryptographic chain (signer identity, timestamp, certificate, audit trail). They don't need a Kamy account, a portal login, or to take your word for it. This is the part nobody else does cleanly: the cryptography proves the document hasn't been tampered with, and the verify page makes that proof inspectable in 5 seconds. PAdES B-LT signatures also work in Adobe Reader without a network call.

What's the difference between hard-cap plans and Scale?

Free, Starter ($19), Pro ($49), and Business ($149) are all hard-cap plans — they ship a fixed monthly render quota and the API returns a 402 error once you hit it. No surprise bills, no overage. Scale is the opposite: there's no monthly fee and no cap, you just pay $0.002 for every render. Most teams pick a flat plan for predictability and switch to Scale if their volume gets too lumpy to forecast.

What happens when I hit my monthly cap?

On Free / Starter / Pro / Business, the next render returns a 402 PLAN_QUOTA_EXCEEDED error and your dashboard shows an upgrade prompt. Renders already in flight finish normally. Quotas reset at the start of each calendar month (UTC). To remove the cap entirely, switch to Scale ($0.002 per render, billed at the end of each cycle).

Why is Scale priced at $0.002 / render?

Accepted Answer

It deliberately undercuts the cheapest pay-as-you-go PDF API on the market (Api2Pdf at $0.0025/render plus a $0.001/MB bandwidth surcharge). Kamy's Scale plan has no bandwidth fee, so a 5-page invoice with embedded fonts costs the same $0.002 as a one-page receipt. At any meaningful volume, Scale is the lowest-cost hosted PDF rendering on the market.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep full access until then. We don't charge cancellation fees.

How do custom templates work?

Accepted Answer

Custom templates let you save your own Handlebars HTML once and reference it by slug in every render call — they're private to your account and instantly available after upload. Starter, Pro, Business, and Scale all include unlimited saved templates. Free can't save templates, but can still POST raw HTML inline on the `html` field of /v1/render — handy for one-off renders or quick prototyping.

What does the Free plan watermark look like, and how do I remove it?

It's a small `Generated by Kamy · kamy.dev` line in the bottom-right of the last page, ~8px, ~20% opacity — visible but unobtrusive. Every paid plan (Starter and up) is watermark-free on every render, no exceptions.

What's the difference between Free and Starter?

Free is for evaluation: 100 renders/month, 1 API key, the 8 free system templates (invoice, receipt, quote, contract, agreement, shipping label, certificate, report), no saved custom templates, and watermarked output. Starter ($19/mo) is the cheapest production tier: 5,000 renders/month, 3 API keys, unlimited saved custom templates, no watermark — with a hard cap so you never get a surprise bill.

Does the annual plan auto-renew?

Yes. Annual plans automatically renew at the start of each year unless you cancel before the renewal date. You'll receive a reminder email 30 days before renewal. Annual pricing saves you 20% compared to monthly billing — Starter $180/yr, Pro $468/yr, Business $1,428/yr. Scale is metered pay-as-you-go and isn't billed annually.

Is there a free trial for paid plans?

Accepted Answer

The Free plan lets you get started immediately with 100 renders per month — no credit card required. If you need more renders or features, you can upgrade at any time. We don't currently offer time-limited trials for paid plans, but you can downgrade back to Free if it doesn't work out.

Question 13

I'm on the legacy $29 Pro plan. What happens to me?

Accepted Answer

Nothing — your subscription keeps renewing at $29/month at the new Pro plan's quota of 25,000 renders/month (up from the previous 10,000). When you next change plans through the billing portal, you'll be moved to the new $49 Pro price. There's no forced migration.
